PERRY SCHOOL DISTRICT - HIGHEST COSTS (BY FAR) FOR ALL LAKE COUNTY SCHOOLS!

We received the following blog from a reader in Perry. This only demonstrates, in our opinion, how out of touch the current school board in Perry truly is. We agree with our reader that the taxpayers from Perry SHOULD NOT BE HAPPY!

"The c.a.r.e committee recently mentioned the spread between what it cost to educate a youngster in Perry as opposed to the other 8 Lake County districts, but didn't put numbers out to show just how bad this disparity is.

The monetary numbers for school years 2008/2009 will not be released by the state until the end of October, but the latest available numbers were taken from each district's required financial and forecast statement to the state at the end of October 2008 which encompassed school years 2007/2008.

Total enrollment combined at the other eight districts was 30,876.

Grand total all expenditures combined at the other eight districts including monies into 'slush' funds was $309,714,859.

That comes to $10,031 for each student to have been educated at the other eight districts in Lake County.

For Perry, total enrollment was 1,886.

For Perry, total expenditures were $29,593,193 including monies into their slush fund.

That comes to $15,691 for each student to have been educated in Perry.

That is a difference of $5,660 more for each youngster to have received their education in the Perry District in school year 2007/2008. A follow up to this will be provided for school year 2008/2009 once the information is released by the state at the end of October.

Did all this money help Perry's kids excel educationally, or did it, and does it, primarily enrich the district's administrators? The taxpayers eventually will have to stop what is going on. One can only hope they wake up soon."
